Whistle delivers live sports updates to Discord, covering football, F1, MMA, NFL and more, from kickoff to the final whistle and beyond.

Follow a team and Whistle pins it per server, opens a thread per game, and streams goals, points, and key events as they happen. The producer/consumer/bot pipeline runs on Kafka (AutoMQ) with Avro-encoded events for durability.

How it's built

Whistle is a producer/consumer/bot pipeline over Kafka (AutoMQ) with Avro-encoded events, running on opi5-cluster and deployed via ArgoCD.

Whistle is invite-only. Join the Discord and ask for an invite to your server.

How to use

Whistle has a single /setup slash command (admin only) that opens an interactive UI for configuring notifications. Run /setup in any channel, pick a sport from the menu, then choose notification channels and follows. The per-sport sections below describe what each sport supports, so pick the section that matches what you want to configure.

Notification types:

NFL

Live game updates and reminders for followed NFL teams.

  • Live channel: Score updates, quarter summaries, and final scores for live games.
  • Reminder channel: Pre-game reminders for upcoming games.
  • Followed teams: Pick the NFL teams you want updates for (paginated picker, NFL = 32 teams).
